Does ametop cream/gel work and how long does it last?

Im getting a tattoo on my ribs this weekend that will take an hour to two hours.. ive gotten tats before but im really nervous about my ribs. Ive done research on using painkillers like aleve and tylenol but that seems out of the question. any advice for ametop?Does ametop cream/gel work and how long does it last?
